Repeat Prescriptions

When requesting repeat prescriptions, please return the tear off slip to the surgery which was attached to your last prescription. Failure to do this will lead to a delay in the preparation of your prescription. If you do not have a repeat slip then please leave in writing the medication you require.

 We need at least 2 working days notice to prepare routine requests. 

We do NOT take requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone.

Prescriptions will normally be issued in quantities of 2 months supply in accordance with DoH guidance on good practice. Exceptions to this may apply particularly with HRT, the oral contraceptive pill and some osteoporosis treatment.  

 Please collect prescriptions after 3.00 p.m. when collecting your prescription please check carefully that it has the items you requested as once dispensed by the chemist medication can not be returned. Prescription requests can be posted, but please supply a SAE and allow for postage time.

You may be invited to see a nurse or doctor periodically to have your medication reviewed, please read the messages written on your repeat tear off slip.  We do not accept prescription requests by fax.

Unused medication should be disposed off appropriately, either by returning to your chemist or bringing it back to the surgery. Every year there are many cases of accidental poisoning from drugs at home that have not been used are were not disposed of.
 

Acute Prescription

If you need to request a prescription that you do not normally have on repeat then please fill in a request from at reception. Please note we will not normally take these request over the telephone for patient safety reasons.
