Practice Nurses

There are four practice nurses and a Health Care Assistant attached to the surgery .The nurses provide a wide range of services and are an essential part of the surgery team. They run clinics, provide health advice and triage emergencies. The following are some of the services they routinely provide. 

• Dressings,
• Blood Pressure checks,
• Cervical smears,
• Ear syringing,
• Vaccinations,
• Smoking cessation advice,
• Health checks.

Mrs R Griffiths

Ruth joined the practice in 2000 and comes from a hospital background. She worked for many years in the eye department at Southend General and was a senior member of staff when she left the hospital.

As expected she has a particular interest in opthamology as well as developing her skills in asthma and cardiovascular disease. Ruth also runs the 24 hour BP monitoring clinic as well as running the pilot project in Southend for 24 hour ambulatory ECG monitoring. 

As well as the nurses based at the surgery there is a District Nurse and Midwife attached to the surgery.

Mrs A Homan

Ann has been with the practice for 18 years and has a particular interest in diabetes.
Ann alos now does all our practice nurse visits for housebound patients.

 

 

 

Clare Roovers

Clare is our diabetic nurse specialist and runs the diabetic clinics. 

Janet Mills

Janet runs general clinics. She has been trained in doing spirometry which is used for patients with COPD and Asthma.

Lisa Butcher - Health Care Assistant

Lisa Butcher is our HCA (Healthcare Assistant). She brings with her plenty of experience having worked as a nurse in Southend A+E department. Lisa supports the nurses with the daily nursing activities and in addition can do the following:

Blood pressure checks, New patient checks, Spirometry, ECGs, Dressings.
